Having made a successful return to the British ring following a nine-month absence, Laura Saperstein has set her sights on the super featherweight world title.
Competing in her first six-round lightweight bout, Saperstein stopped Lana Cooper early on at York Hall in Bethnal Green after her opponent dislocated her shoulder throwing a punch that missed the former lawyer.
Saperstein cut a frustrated figure as she was keen to get more ring-time under her belt. "I had four weeks notice to get fit for the fight and was so annoyed with the way it finished.
"I was very happy with my performance in the first round. It was the most settled and confident I've been."
After recovering from a broken leg, Saperstein recently linked up with a new coach. "We were working on a game-plan and I tried to pace myself," she said. "I boxed more maturely.
"Now I'm lining up a title fight. This is going to be a big year for me. It's all go."
Her next fight will be either in late April or early May.
