Big Bash glory for Klinger

articlemain

Michael Klinger helped Perth Scorchers win the Big Bash final following a thrilling four-wicket success over Sydney Sixers.

Opening-batsman Klinger smashed 33 runs from 37 balls, including four fours, in an opening partnership of 70 with Sean Marsh.

Perth went on to chase down a target of 148 from their 20 overs, winning off the final ball of the match.

Earlier in the tournament, Klinger smashed an unbeaten 105 from 60 balls in the win over the Melbourne Renegades.

Klinger, 34, admits he has not yet given up hope of an international call-up. "You never know," he said. "It's always in the back of my mind.

"It's something I want to achieve and if I keep performing well, hopefully that’ll happen one day.

"The short formats, the one-day and T20, have been kind to me over the past four to five years, but there’s a lot of good cricketers around Australia. You’ve got to keep performing and be in the right place at the right time."
