The Great Britain men's softball team have retired the number two jersey worn by Mark Berman in recognition of his services to the team and to British and international softball.
Berman founded the GB men's team on behalf of the BSF and developed it from raw beginnings. He managed and played for the team for 10 years. In 152 games under his management, the team had a record of 97-55-2, an outstanding percentage of .638.
Great Britain also achieved two top-three finishes in European Championships under his management and qualified for the 2004 ISF World Championships in Christchurch, New Zealand, earning a world ranking of nine.
At the 2007 BSF AGM, Berman was one of 12 inductees to the newly-founded BSF Hall of Fame.
