Tal Ben Haim is on the verge of joining QPR on loan for the rest of the season, manager Harry Redknapp has confirmed.
The Israeli defender, 30, has been a free agent since leaving Portsmouth in August and Redknapp is keen to add the experienced Ben Haim to his squad who last night boosted their hopes of avoiding relegation with a 1-0 victory over Chelsea.
As reported, Ben Haim has been training with QPR since the start of December and it appears the move is close to completion.
Redknapp said: "Tal has worked hard in training and we will look to give him a contract until the end of the season.
"He may be added to the squad. He is keen to have a go with us."
Redknapp will be keen to complete the deal in time for Ben Haim to play in Saturday's FA Cup third round tie against West Bromwich Albion.
Ben Haim has had spells at Bolton Chelsea, Manchester City, Sunderland and West Ham, but has not played a competitive match since September.
