A good all-round display from Jon Evans was not enough as Belmont & Edgware were defeated by 40 runs in their latest Middlesex Sunday League clash.
Evans claimed 4-29 with the ball as Bharat Olympians posted 194-8. Having won the toss, the Olympians were initially restricted by Maccabiah bowler Saul Weitzman and Gideon Restan (1-16).
The brakes were kept on when Wienburg (1-24) and Neil Myeroff took over. At 66-2 off 20 overs, it looked like Belmont were definitely in the driving seat.
The introduction of Evans resulted in Olympians losing wickets at regular intervals. Seven dropped catches let the Olympians off the hook although a great effort from GB Maccabiah junior Jake Reza (2-48) kept BECC in contention.
However, Olympians took 42 runs off the final six overs which damaged the work done earlier.
Ashley Connick (10) and Evans started well but after an LBW, two more quick wickets saw Reza (15) and Evans come together again. With extras coming quickly, Belmont were ticking over at four runs an over until Evans tried to up the rate and was dismissed for 31.
Weitzman tried to see the tail through with an unbeaten 30 but unfortunately did not have enough partners and BECC were dismissed for 154.
