Alon Day broke an all-time lap record at Palm Beach to catapult himself into the spotlight.

Day indicated that he was looking at moving to the USA to compete in the Indy Lights Series. Bryan Herta Autosport, owned by former Indy Car driver Bryan Herta and engineer Steve Newey, have made an offer to the 20-year-old, as have Belardi.

Chris Harfield, Day's manager, said: "From very early on day one, Alon showed great raw speed and dramatically out-performed his more experienced team-mate.

"This form was carried through to the second day of testing, leaving both teams hugely impressed and eager to sign Alon on to their 2012 Indy Lights campaign."

A move to the USA appears to end the prospect of Day competing in F1.
