Alice fights for Britain

articlemain

Israel’s Alice Schlesinger has been given permission by the International Judo Federation to represent Great Britain in the 2016 Olympics.

Last month Schlesinger, 26, won the British Judo Championships U63 kilogram title in Sheffield and was then invited to join the GB team.

She said: “A two-year struggle has now ended and it’s hard to take it all in but it’s regrettable the way it ended with the Israel Judo Association.”

Having competed for Israel in the 2008 and 2012 Olympics in Bejing and London, Schlesinger has been at loggerheads with the Israel Judo Association since the London Olympics where she reached the quarter-finals.

The organisation have recently refused to let her boyfriend, Pavel Musin, be her coach.
