It's no surprise that a hot favourite trend for spring is florals. It might seem boring or even obvious that a change of season and a rise in temperature would bring a softer vibe in the form of a floral print. But it works time and time again.

Summer dresses, floaty tops, accents of florals on shoes and bags aplenty, there's no escaping the femininity and elegance that a touch of floral can bring to your wardrobe.

This season the flower print is prettier and softer than ever before. Loud 70s-inspired prints of the past will be hide to find. Instead shops will be afloat with gardens of delicate chiffon and comfortable cottons in blooming designs with pastel hues reigning heavily.

Teeny-tiny blooms teamed with denim, tan or white keep your whole look simple and pretty. It's an understated look that ticks all the boxes of new season dressing and can be worn both at day and night.

Unusually florals have also been injected into sweeping ball gowns at Emilia Wickstead and Alexander McQueen.

Even tailored clothing have a hint of floral about them this spring. The flower power suit has been born and Givenchy and Tibi are the labels to thank. For an obvious modern touch, look for edgy details like cut-out designs and asymmetric hems in ultra-pretty prints which are filtering through from designer to high street.

This bloom-filled, romance-fueled trend is ever growing, so I say embrace it, because every purchase is an investment. Well that's what I tell my husband anyway.
