Anyone who is in any doubt about the idiocy of some of the Israeli government's choices might care to cast a horrified look at the BNP's latest website entry.
Eli Yishai, Israel's Immigration Minister, has come out with some self-serving claptrap about the country's immigration policy. However, there appears to be nothing so stupid but that it will not serve as a BNP platform; and in this case a triumphant BNP poster is crowing — with some justification — that the Israeli policy on immigration, in order to keep Israel a Jewish state, is identical (their word, not mine) to that of the BNP.
Take a look at the comments on this site. Look at the person who declares: "Fantastic who's going to be the first to call Israels Eli Yishai a Nazi go on I dare you UAF do it." Does this fill you with confidence?
Israel flirts with the dodgiest of political bedfellows on the somewhat spurious grounds that nobody else loves it. But surely Ben-Gurion would be spinning to hear the fascists of the BNP seizing on the statements of an Israeli cabinet minister as corroboration of their own repellent ideologies.
Someone in Jerusalem ought to get a grip.
