More Hypocrisy From The UN

May 29, 2010 11:41

At The United Nations in New York the 28-page final declaration was agreed by 189 member states following intense talks on the last day of a month-long conference on strengthening the NPT, the cornerstone of global disarmament efforts.
The document calls for the United Nations secretary general to organise a meeting of Middle East states in 2012 to agree to the creation of a "zone free of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction".
Israel is singled out in the document. The final document also calls for convening a conference in 2012 "on the establishment of a Middle East zone free of nuclear weapons and all other weapons of mass destruction." This Arab idea of a WMD-free zone is designed to pressure Israel to give up its undeclared nuclear arsenal.

The hypocrisy - There is of course no mention of the other Nuclear Powers that are not members of the NPT, North Korea, India, Pakistan and of course - Iran.

At least Obama had the guts to support Israel in this regard and, he said, “we strongly oppose efforts to single out Israel, and will oppose actions that jeopardize Israel's national security."

Nevertheless, with the Geni out of the bottle, in other words once invented these weapons cannot be un-invented, I don't think Israel has too much to be concerned about.
