Every year parents scramble to get their children into JFS, one of the biggest Jewish schools in Europe and an institution which is over 250 years old.
Despite a poor Ofsted report in 2014, ongoing parental complaints about discipline and new competition in the form of JCoSS and Yavneh, demand for the school has not fallen. With the departure of the headteacher, Jonathan Miller, parents' concerns must be listened to.
The school has over 2,000 pupils, all of whom are entitled to a top class education. The governors must ensure this happens, not just for those students in the "accelerated stream" they are so proud of, but for every one of them.
