articlemain

Man Booker Prize winner Howard Jacobson gave a humorous insight into his childhood, education and heritage at Nightingale’s annual literary lunch.

He told the 260-strong audience: “I would like to pay tribute to the wonderful work of the home. Caring for older people is sainted work and I applaud you for it.”

The event, held at Claridges in central London, raised £120,000 for the south London care home.
