Slam-dunk style

articlemain

We're all doing it in some way or another. I'm referring to the Deliciously Ella-esque women who are embracing everything healthy. Whether we're spinning until our legs can no longer move, juicing up our morning green smoothie or following the Hemsley sisters's every move. We've become a nation obsessed with all things healthy, fresh and raw.

It therefore comes as no surprise that the sports luxe look has grown year on year with more brands designing diffusion ranges for the gym bunnies among us. That said, this popular sports-meets-streetwear look is no longer worn just for your barre class but instead seen as suitable attire to lunch with friends, do the school run, even to go to work in.

The recent launch of Beyoncé's sporty brand, Ivy Park, caused chaos in Topshop's Oxford Street store. Hoodies, hi-tech leggings and cropped tops were highlights to the range. With online fashion giant net-a-porter also stocking the singer's range, this shows the ageless appeal that this style has on both young and older women.

As a woman who likes nothing more than an excuse to dress up, it feels fashionably wrong to wear bright Lycra to discuss business , which is why I choose to embrace this trend with sport-inspired pieces that are style winners which subtly lean on the look without looking out of place in a boardroom. Get in on the act with key pieces: anything in grey marl is instantly a hit. Look for lace inserts, colourful embellishment or a subtle something special that promotes your usual grey sweatshirt from gymwear to acceptable daywear. A colourful crop top is a must too, but layer it over tight and long tops to avoid flashing a bare tum. Steer clear of leggings and instead choose harem pants or side-striped loose trousers. Complete the look with pristine white trainers that should be the footwear of choice while your outer wear should look equally as relaxed yet stylish too. It's a no-brainer that this season's must-have jacket, the bomber, is the quickest way to get you to the fashion finish line.
