Hot white now

articlemain

Never before has a sport been so timely in the name of fashion. Wimbledon will be soon making its annual mark with tennis-lovers and sport enthusiasts glued to TV screens and keen tennis players trying to serve their own wins in parks across the country. The colour white will be ever present on the court as well as in the audience. Wimbledon Whites, named aptly by the fashion set can be found everywhere this season - from high street to designer, from simple Tees to distressed denim. White is an obvious colour choice during balmy summer months and sun-drenched holidays but how to wear the hue needs extra attention.

As a rule-of-thumb, trousers should be clean- cut and tailored while blouses and dresses should reflect the romantic and bohemian look of the moment. Skirts work well in textured fabrics such as lace, broderie anglais, laser-cuts or pleats that transform the simplicity of a plain white fabric into something more interesting to look at. If top-to-toe white seems too hard against pale skin, soften your look with blush shades, metallics or midnight blue to add depth and interest to your outfit. Similarly, tan and nude colours always look effortlessly stylish and sophisticated against white, especially with a golden glow - very Riveria chic.

In addition to being the so-right-for-now shade for clothes, white accessories have had a re-birth from trashy to chic. Crisp white leather bags bring a fresh alternative to the classic black, (choose a monochrome design if you can't bring yourself to retire your darker colours) while shoes and sandals make their own statement with details aplenty. If toes are on show, ensure they're suitably polished; even white nail polish is having a Tippex moment. It's this seasons alternative to a French mani.

So while you bask in Wimbledon glory, ensure you achieve your own game, set and match with a winning combination of all-whites.
