Blueprint for the hip

articlemain

When fashion and comfort collide, one cannot help but feel uplifted that we can look stylish, on-trend and most of all, actually move with ease. Designers like Stella McCartney, Bottega Veneta and Gucci, to name but a few, have started a denim revolution, bringing the fabric back to the forefront of every woman's capsule wardrobe.

This season, the fail-safe fabric can be found overflowing in high street stores ranging from dresses and skirts to shirts and shorts - the entire lot! Denim is no longer just to cover legs on sloppy Sundays; instead it's creeping into working wardrobes in dark shades and tailored designs that are usually associated with smarter attire and dressy occasions.

The defining feature and perhaps the best reason we're celebrating denim is because it matches with everything. It will enhance your existing clothes while updating it too with very little effort. Sling on a denim shirt with your full skater skirt, team your favourite Breton stripe sweater with a denim peplum. You get the idea. It's easy matching, affordable and will last a lifetime.

As a working mum-of-four, denim has become my new best friend for work and for play. I say, long live this shift towards simple, classic, basics. I salute you, denim!
