Aloha! Hawaiian prints herald summer

articlemain

The hawaiian print is back in fashion. Tropical designs have won massive style favour for the simple fact that they make us smile. They may conjure up memories of souvenir shops in far-off holiday destinations, but the loud Hawaiianesque print of vintage men's shirts has been revamped, for women's dresses, swimwear and even shoes. Lush and loud prints are no longer just for the budding Elvis Presleys of the world, it's a summer trend that livens up your look effortlessly.

Colour is of course key - the brighter the better. The main issue with these prints is the tendency to place them on the holiday-only clothes pile. Rev up the confidence to wear them at home too.

If all-out colour is too strong for you, there are plenty of designs - such as this Wallis jumpsuit (below) - which allow you to channel the trend without feeling out of place.

Although florals are reigning (again!) as the print that has enveloped the high street and high-end collections, they have a more romantic and softer appeal than the Hawaiian look. While blooms of roses can adapt to all seasons, palm trees, pineapples and hibiscus are more obviously for summer dressing.

So place a garland around your neck and hula your way through the summer. Aloha!
