For more than a century, The JC has been a trusted guide in the kitchen. Our first two cookery writers became household names whose recipes are still lovingly clipped and kept in kitchens everywhere. Florence Greenberg and Evelyn Rose each wore the JC cookery apron for more than 40 years, shaping the way generations cooked. Florence was at the helm when our very first cookbook — The Jewish Chronicle Cookery Book — was published in 1934.

In the 15 years since trained chef Victoria Prever took on the role, she has brought her own interpretation to the classics, giving the Shabbat menu a 21st-century twist and blending Ashkenazi traditions with Sephardi flavours.
