A Jewish school has written to parents to remind them how to behave, warning they could be banned if they are aggressive or rude.

Rita Alak-Levi, headteacher, and Iain Blakeley, chairman of governors of Hertsmere Jewish Primary School in Radlett, wrote with “regret” to remind parents of how to act.

“We have recently seen some totally unacceptable examples of behaviour and our letter is intended as a polite reminder that this cannot be tolerated,” they said. “Our teachers deserve to be treated with respect and not feel threatened in their place of work.”

They warned, “Please note that if any parents do behave in a rude and aggressive manner, the school will have no other option but to ban them from the school premises.”

It was, they said, “unacceptable for any member of staff to be shouted at or spoken to in any way other than in a polite, composed and courteous manner.”

They also discouraged parents from sharing concerns on social media as “this only makes matters worse”.

They said parents should address issues first with the class teacher and if they were not happy, then speak further to the phase leader, the acting deputies and, finally, the head”.

Parents were asked to read a new code of conduct which, among other things, set outs the grounds which could lead to them being banned from the site.
