British Army veteran will fulfill ambition to stand for the National Anthem with Ajex

articlemain

A British Army veteran who suffered permanent damage to his spinal column while serving in Iraq will fulfil his ambition to stand for the National Anthem at Sunday’s annual Cenotaph remembrance service of the Association of Jewish Ex-Servicemen and Women.

Chris Baker, 33, will wear a ReWalk exoskeleton, an Israeli invention enabling those with spinal cord injury to stand, walk and climb stairs. The ReWalk was donated to the non-Jewish veteran via the Gerald Ronson Family Foundation after Mr Ronson heard about his story.

Mr Ronson also chairs the Community Security Trust, which today fulfils duties formerly undertaken by Ajex members.

For the first time, a CST contingent will march in this year’s parade.
