Pupils play their cards right for soldiers

articlemain

As part of Armistice Day-related studies, Mosaic Jewish Primary pupils visited the nearby Wimbledon war memorial, where they were told about Jewish soldier Paul Mervis, who was killed on foot patrol in Afghanistan in 2009.

Moved by his story, pupils have produced festive cards for members of Lieutenant Mervis's battalion, the 2 Rifles, who are still serving in Afghanistan. Mosaic head Kate Baum was "immensely proud of the children for their thoughtful and creative work. We hope members of 2 Rifles enjoy the children's cards and also being remembered during the festive season when so many members of our armed forces are far from their loved ones."
