Former Hilton Hotels boss Sir David Michels was booked in with Langdon residents Robyn Freeman and Benjamin Braham at London’s RAC Club for a business breakfast which raised £50,000 for the charity, helping young adults with moderate learning difficulties.

Speaking on behalf of fellow residents, the Langdon duo stressed the importance of a job in their lives.
Impressed by their contribution to proceedings, Sir David said “it was a pleasure to be upstaged by two truly fantastic people. They are a credit to this wonderful organisation, showing their abilities, rather than disabilities, to the wider community and, most importantly, to future employers.”

Sir David went on to back Langdon’s aim of employment for all, as well as sharing some of his expert knowledge of the hospitality industry.

Langdon runs a dedicated employment service, offering individual mentoring for employees and employers. One positive outcome of the breakfast was the job opportunities suggested by guests for the Langdon residents.
Langdon fundraising chair Paul Goodman said: “Employing people with learning disabilities requires more effort and dedication on behalf of both parties.

“But the results could not be more worthwhile.”
