David Mindel and Samuel Burke met ten years ago, connecting instantly over a shared love of Jewish life and a passion for travel.

And when Mr Mindel and his CNN presenter partner were married, they asked their wedding guests to bring Jewish Care into the celebration by making a donation.

They name-checked the charity during the ceremony, which was officiated by West London Synagogue’s Rabbi David Mitchell and viewed digitally by people across six continents.

Mr Mindel said he had long been moved by the work of Jewish Care, given that it touched “so many different parts of our community.

“With our wedding taking place when the world has seen so much adversity, we decided that it was a moment for foregoing a wedding registry and asked our friends and family to come together to support a cause that’s uniting people.

“We’ve been so honoured so many have joined in so far to support the broad and diverse work of Jewish Care. We had a magical day and are delighted funds are going to a great cause.”

To date, £4,000 has been donated through Celebrate with Jewish Care, which enables simchah celebrants to raise charitable funds on their big day.
