Meeting with James Brokenshire focuses on housing and education

Housing and Communities Secretary James Brokenshire met Jewish leaders in Stamford Hill on Tuesday to hear their views on a range of issues.

Topics discussed included education, housing and the Green Paper on community integration. Mr Brokenshire also visited a project of emergency response service Hatzola.

Mr Brokenshire said it had been instructive to learn “how we can work together to champion our joint values and create stronger, more successful communities”. He would welcome further talks.

The meeting was convened by the Jewish Community Council, whose Levi Schapiro hoped the discussions would “impact on the final legislation [on community integration]. We look forward continuing our dialogue with the department and hope to ensure policy takes into account our community’s needs at this important time.”
