Cancer survivor has a ball with One Direction

articlemain

An Essex mum who beat breast cancer has raised more than £43,000 for Breast Cancer Care with a little help from Harry Styles. The One Direction star recorded a video message in support of a charity ball at the Prince Regent Hotel organised by Katie Worth and her family and friends.

Mrs Worth, 34, from Chigwell, wanted "to give something back to an organisation that helps so many women through such a dark period of their lives.

"I didn't expect to raise anything like the amount I did. My target was £15,000 and I would have been delighted with that."

The 320 tickets sold out within 24 hours and Mrs Worth, director of travel firm Atlantis, used her contacts in the trade to bring in attractive auction prizes. As for Harry Styles, "I heard he really wanted to come but couldn't due to work commitments".

Breast Cancer Care's Rebecca Woollgar said: "It took a huge amount of hard work from Katie so we can't thank her enough. This money will ensure we continue to provide a vital emotional support network to help thousands of people find a way to live with, through and beyond breast cancer."
