Big screen exposure aids Sharon Berger donor search

articlemain

The Spit4Mum campaign, geared to finding a bone-marrow donor for critically ill Harrow resident Sharon Berger, is reporting huge cross-communal support ahead of a major screening on Sunday.

Mrs Berger, 61, is in hospital undergoing chemotherapy for myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS), a malfunction of the bone marrow. She urgently requires a bone marrow donation.

In preparation for the screening at East Finchley Library, Liberal Judaism, the Reform movement and the United Synagogue have all emailed their memberships. The Board of Deputies has tweeted about it and will be publicising it at its meeting on Sunday.

There is also support across schools and youth movements, with Bnei Akiva holding its own screening. Barnet and Finchley synagogues both have screenings planned and all MSFL football teams have been alerted about the Finchley event.

Five thousand flyers have also been distributed by an army of volunteers in Golders Green this week.
