Another key staff member leaving Hertsmere school

Departure of assistant head 'completely unconnected' to resignation of headteacher, HJPS says

Following the abrupt departure of Hertsmere Jewish Primary head Steven Isaacs, the Radlett school has announced that another prominent staff member will be leaving.

Daryl Lax, an assistant head and head of Jewish studies, has resigned to take up a position with Sinai Jewish Primary. He will leave at the end of the current term, having been with the school for 17 years.

HJPS governor Lara Lipsey said the departures were “completely unconnected”. Mr Lax had informed the school of his plans “before half-term” but the announcement was held back so as not to coincide with the headteacher’s resignation.

“The plan now is to recruit a new head. Decisions about deputy and assistant heads are on hold until then. Most likely, the headteacher role will be an outside appointment.

“Rita Alak-Levi will continue as acting headteacher. We will be taking applications for the role of headteacher from outside and inside the school, if any of our current teachers wish to apply.”
