Klezmer in the Park: and the bands played on

Photo highlights of the Jewish Music Institute event in London’s Regent’s Park

Klezmer in the Park, the Jewish Music Institute’s annual free festival, attracted more than 2,500 people of all ages and backgrounds to London’s Regent’s Park on Sunday.

The MC, BBC radio music presenter Max Reinhardt, introduced acts including Guy Schalom’s Baladi Blues Reloaded, John Etheridge and The Turbans, whose closing performance had the crowd thronging the bandstand and dancing in the wind and rain.

The festival also featured the debut of the JMI Youth Big Band, directed by Sam Eastmond, with artist in residence Stewart Curtis, and newcomers BisBas, with Yemeni singer Jonny Mosesson.

The many families among the crowd were catered for by the children’s tent and community hub.
