What's happening for Leeds Mitzvah Day

articlemain

The Leeds Jewish community is running a raft of activities on Mitzvah Day.

Local Mitzvah Day organiser Susie Gordon said: "There’s something each one of us can join in, whether we have half an hour or a full day. If you’d like to keep active, you can join the community clean-up event in the Harehills area, supporting the "Keep Harehills Tidy" campaign. On the other hand, if you love knitting, join Sinai's Mitzvah Day interfaith knitathon at The Zone."

Sinai’s Rabbi Esther Hugenholtz added: "Knitathon and Collectathon, plus the chance to donate items to a variety of worthwhile causes – what could be better? We’re collecting – which is where the Collectathon comes in - the following items which are unused or in good condition are needed. This includes: toiletries, children's toys, non-perishable foods such as pasta, rice, tinned foods, tea and coffee; knitted six-inch squares."

Collection points are at Sinai Synagogue, 0113 2665256, the MAZCC, 0113 268 4211 and The Zone 0113 217 2531.
Ms Gordon added: "Let’s work together to support Positive Action For Refugees and Asylum Seekers, Palm Cove (providing emergency accommodation for some asylum seekers, refugees, migrants and minority ethnic people), the Calais Appeal and the Leeds North Food Bank."
