Wanstead literature lovers clock up golden jubilee

The Wanstead Jewish Literary Society has celebrated its golden jubilee. The society meets monthly on Sunday afternoons attracting an attendance of up to 20 people to listen to talks on art, music, history, books and Jewish topics. Its entrance fee is £2 which includes tea and cakes at the end of the afternoon.

It is a non-profit-making society and any excess funds are passed on to charities. Since 1967 the society has channelled more than £4,000 to charity.
