The Central line on Rabbi Barry Marcus: ‘You will be sorely missed’

articlemain

Rabbi Barry Marcus will retire in autumn as senior minister at the Central Synagogue, Great Portland Street, after almost 25 years’ service.

His achievements at Central include the development of the morning minyan, popular with West End and City professionals.

He has also been at the forefront of Holocaust education, leading trips to concentration-camp sites.

Central chair Barry Townsley said Rabbi Marcus’s “many years of leadership have established our community as one of the key central London shuls for mainstream UK Jewry. He will be sorely missed by many people whose lives he has positively impacted on.”
