Shabbaton success in Southend

articlemain

Close to 40 youngsters took part in Southend and Westcliff Hebrew Congregation's mini-Shabbaton weekend. The JLGB-organised activities included a weekend of learning, inspiration, and Shabbat-friendly fun. Many of the youths participated in the shul service for the 100 worshippers; there was also a children`s service and youth discussion group.

Youth co-ordinator Barry Jacobs said: "Many people remarked that this exceeded their expectations. By the time Shabbat drew to a close, everyone was wishing for more."

Rabbi Benyamin Bar organised a barmitzvah breakfast on Sunday morning for pre-barmitzvah boys.
