Mini stands out in disability charity's pet project

Comedian Ashley Blaker had the more serious task of judging Jewish Blind & Disabled’s contest for animals enrolled in the charity’s Petron fundraising scheme.

Along with his children, Mr Blaker perused images of some two dozen pets, among them a baby chicken.

Cockapoo Mini was chosen for raising the biggest smiles from the Blaker clan and will receive a goodie bag from a pet treats supplier.

“We loved the way Mini looked like she was trying to walk on her hind legs,” Mr Blaker explained. Owner Zac Goodman from Hampstead Garden Suburb said: “Mini’s really enjoying her new celebrity status in the Jewish dog community!

“More importantly, we are delighted to support such a worthwhile cause, enabling people to live independently who might otherwise lead restricted and even isolated lives.”

Through the JBD campaign, supporters sign up their pets for £5 a month. A Petron tag and a hand-picked toy are sent for the animals.
