On Tuesday night 60 parents and teens gathered in North West London to hear Jonny Benjamin MBE and Neil Laybourne retrace their incredible journey. In 2008 Mr Benjamin, who suffers from schizoaffective disorder, tried to take his own life by jumping from Waterloo Bridge but was dissuaded by a passer-by. Mr Benjamin subsequently launched a campaign to track down the stranger, which attracted huge public interest and led to him being reunited with Mr Laybourn.
The evening was organised and hosted by Lisa Wander and Catherine Loble of Emparenting. Ms Wander described it as "an amazing evening" highlighting "a partnership that shines a light, not only on their their compassion and loving kindness, but also the potential for that within us all."
Also on the panel was Richard Bentley of Pixel Learning. Together they have created Thinkwell, delivering workshops, using Jonny and Neil's story to empower young people to support their well being. The event raised over £500 and proceeds were donated to Thinkwell.
