Masorti goes to US for St Albans rabbi

articlemain

St Albans Masorti Synagogue (Sams) has gone Stateside once again to fill a rabbinical vacancy, appointing Phoenix-born Adam Zagoria-Moffet, who is completing his rabbinical studies in New York and plans to move to Hertfordshire with his wife Mikayla and young son in July. He has served the Oceanside Jewish Centre in New York as student rabbi and is working on an egalitarian Sephardi siddur.

“Mikayla and I are thrilled to be joining a warm, welcoming, and energetic community,” he said. “We look forward to learning, serving, and growing with Sams.”

Shul co-chair Moira Hart said the community had been impressed by the minister’s “energy, enthusiasm and intellectual track record. He will be a tremendous asset to the Masorti Judaism movement in the UK and across Europe.”

Sams also recruited its previous minister, Rabbi Rafi Kaiserblueth, from America. He left St Albans last summer to take up a post in Australia.

Sams membership currently includes more than 450 adults and children.
