Hull Wizo hosts Peter Suchet

articlemain

More than 80 people attended a Hull Wizo lunch with guest speaker Peter Suchet, a former director of the Saatchi and Saatchi advertising agency.

The event, held at Hull Hebrew Congregation’s Pryme Street synagogue, heard how Mr Suchet had also led the division that created Fantasy Football.

Mr Suchet spoke about his family’s history and their Jewish identity. When his brother, actor David Suchet, appeared on the BBC programme Who Do You Think You Are? the family discovered they had Lithuanian roots and that the original family name was Shochet.

He said his father, and non-Jewish mother, had not wanted their children to have any form of religious Jewish life, but that he and his brothers remained proud of their roots.

Hull Wizo’s joint-chairmen, Laura Gold and Avril Sugarman, introduced and thanked Mr Suchet. The event raised more than £700.
