Aish helping the homeless

articlemain

Members of young professionals programme Aish Unfiltered took to the streets to distribute “survival packs” to London’s homeless.

The packs included hats, socks, first aid kit, sleeping bag, pillow, mattress and raincoat and were funded by an online crowdfunding campaign, Change a Life.

More than 30 packs were distributed in the Piccadilly and Trafalgar Square areas and participants also served soup to the beneficiaries.

Volunteers Jade Fox and Chen Pomeranz said: “It was so moving to see how a simple act of kindness can help enrich someone’s life.

“It is so important to make a conscious effort to help people in need.”

Aish’s Rabbi Eli Birnbaum added: “One of the most basic and fundamental tenets of the Torah’s teachings is that of reaching out to the helpless and needy. As Psalm 89 states: ‘The world is built through kindness’.

“We look forward to running similar events in the near future.”
