Two JCoSS sixth formers are to hold a mental health charity event at Alyth Synagogue in Golders Green.

Emily Newman and Ella Garai-Ebner, both aged 17, are to hold a Mental Health Charity Event on Sunday November 26. The teenagers say that they decided to put on the event in order to increase understanding and tolerance of mental health conditions.  

“We want to address and eradicate the stigma surrounding mental health; it’s an issue that needs to be talked about.” said Ms Garai-Ebner, who is in Year 13 at JCoSS.

“Anyone can be affected and no one should feel they’re going to be judged for something outside their control”, added Ms Newman.

The event is being held to raise awareness and funds for JAMI – the mental health service for the Jewish community.

Speakers include Jonny Benjamin MBE, who will be talking about his experiences with mental health problems, and how to tackle them. 

Tickets for the event cost £10 for adults and £5 for students. All proceeds will go to the charity.
