The JC's cartoonist Marf explains why the cartoon posted by Jenny Tonge yesterday was a consciously antisemitic gesture

The cartoon dates back to 2009, a terrible time for both Palestinians and Israelis.

Considering the terror that reigned over the entire region, it seems specious and inflammatory to suggest that the Israelis were the sole perpetrators, and the Palestinians the sole victims.

Political cartoons should aim to be true, to be based in fact, and this just isn't accurate - it is propaganda, rather than good reporting; in my opinion, political cartoonists should be on the side of the newsdesk, not the propagandists.

To compare the treatment of Palestinians with how the Nazis treated the Jews in concentration camps in WWII is outrageous and untrue, and stems from such a skewed view of reality that I can only assume the cartoonist is consciously stoking antisemitic fires with this cartoon, and likewise, Baroness Tonge by publishing it.
