Oxford students attack Danny Ayalon

By Jessica Elgot, February 10, 2010

Israel’s Deputy Foreign Minister was met by a protester screaming “slaughter the Jews” as he spoke at the Oxford Union.

Antisemitic and anti-Israel abuse was shouted throughout Danny Ayalon’s speech on Monday evening, with students causing numerous disruptions to the event.

During the hour-long session one student ran towards Mr Ayalon shouting the Arabic phrase “Itbah Al-Yahud” [Slaughter the Jews].

As many as 10 others, carrying Palestinian flags, made attempts to attack Mr Ayalon but were intercepted and removed by security.

Outside the hall protesters chanted: “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”

At the end of a talk a Oxford Union member called for calm and said that what had happened was a disgrace to the Union.

But no idbach al-yahud...(which raises the question)

It doesn't raise any question. This is a 90-second clip from a one hour long event.

But surely something that significant wouldn't have ended up on the cutting floor.

Perhaps, but there's nothing to suggest it was caught on film in the first place.

As far as I understand it, only part of the speech was filmed, that's why it isn't there. The girl holding the photographs also made a speech but we don't have that footage either...

So, really, until the police conclude their investigation, it's only a matter of hearsay as to whether idbach al-yahud was shouted. And if this person ran towards Ayalon shouting the abuse, and was tackled while doing so, surely the camera person had time to film what was going on? N'est pas?

Jessica, I wrote to Ken Bates and he just called me to say he will be mentioning the Holocaust chants in his programme notes. Do you know anyone going to a homegame who can have a look to see what he writes?

The Troll knows that Ayalon and other witnesses heard it but for reasons of his own agenda he suggests they are liers.

Not all crimes are caught on video but they are crimes nevertheless.

According to the Troll's logic, crime did not exist before the invention of video! All eyewitness accounts are for him invalid!

When there is a true act of antisemtism caught on video, like settlers shouting "Hitler should have killed you all" at fellow Jews, the ZF suddenly makes like a fish and we hear nothing. Why's that? The problem is, boys and girls, that the camera person in Oxford had ample time to film the alleged attack and abuse. However, it does not appear in the recording. Why's that? And as for the "eyewitness accounts". surely they have an agenda as loyal supporters of the ZF?

@moshetzarfati2

You seem to be dismissing my eyewitness account on the grounds that I am a 'loyal supporter of the ZF'.

Where's your evidence for that claim? Oh - you don't have any.

If you actually took the time to read my account, and look around my blog, maybe you'd be better placed to judge as to whether or not I have an agenda as a 'loyal supporter of the ZF'.

In short: I don't.

Make sure that you consider the learning needs of your audience and the reasons why you're writing your articles. As much as possible, go with topics that are relatively new. Talking about the same old topics over and over again will not help you get your articles noticed by online users.Article marketing is the process of submitting articles to article directories for website owners to use as content on their sites for free. In exchange for providing this content you can place a resource or 'bio box' at the end of your article which you can use to gain traffic to your site.

he protest was a massive success. Outside, over a hundred people joined together to chant slogans in support of Palestine, carrying banners condemning Israeli policy and waving the Palestinian flag. Inside, numerous individual students interrupted the talk, challenging Ayalon’s assertions that the West Bank and East Jerusalem were not Occupied Territory, and that Israel had ‘given up’ a third of its country in its peace deal with Egypt. Before long, Ayalon was not able to continue his rehearsed speech, and was forced to contend with a gathering storm of intelligent questions and statements contradicting his evasions and outright lies.

The only thing to do is flag them and tell the moderator that these are spammers and their pseudo should be terminated, just as the antisemites' pseudos should.
