January 11, 2011

Israel's Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has announced the government will give more than £64m to fund more Taglit-Birthright places for young Jews to visit Israel for the first time.

Eighty British students and young professionals were part of 3,000 Birthright participants who heard the prime minister make the announcement of an extra $100m in funding over three years.

The speech was part of a Birthright "Mega Event" in Jerusalem last week to mark the movement's tenth anniversary, and also included young Jewish adults from the US, Brazil, Argentina, Poland and Russia.
