Justin Bieber's 'Baby' - with a Jewish twist

Sophie Hiller performs a version of the Justin Bieber track Baby.

The singer's career has hit the big time this week, as she performed at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas as Sir Tom Jones’ warm-up act.

The 20-year-old, from East Barnet, north London, was invited to audition for the job after a producer of the Welshman’s show saw a clip of her on YouTube.

She describes her style as “jazzy, souly and funky with a modern twist”.

Up and coming Jewish actor Jay Baruchel stars in the latest film by Pirates of the Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice, released in the UK this week, sees the classic Merlin story get a Disney makeover.

Baruchel previously appeared in the Ben Stiller film Tropic Thunder, and played a Zionist musician in the comedy film Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist.

Jewish actor Liev Schreiber helps out with the JNF's Project Renewal, planting trees in Israel's Galilee region, where some 750 thousand trees were destroyed by rocket attacks from Hizbollah.

Mr Schreiber, who starred in the X-Men prequel Wolverine and the Holocaust film Defiance, is joined by his partner Naomi Watts and their two sons Sasha and Sam.

Praising the JNF's work planting more than two million trees, Mr Schreiber says in the film that his family "are continuing with that tradition".

A unique Israeli theatre company with 11 deaf and blind actors have developed “new methods of communication” for their latest show, in London this week.

It is the first time Nalaga’at (Hebrew for "do touch"), a deafblind company from Jaffa, are performing ‘Not By Bread Alone’ in London, after two years in rehearsals. It will play at Finchley Arts Depot this week.
