I was discussing only today with a friend of mine how little coverage the Apprentice has received this year from the media. Is this because there is very little scandal surrounding the candidates that can not be embellished and placed emphatically in a red top newspaper?

Well this is very possibly the case, coupled with the public relations company keeping a tighter reign on the exploits of the competitors, The Apprentice this year seems a little more understated than normal.

Week seven sees the candidates try their hands at selling the cinematic experience

A movie experience of a lifetime is what is on sale in this week’s episode of the Apprentice as the two teams are instructed to create and sell the big screen experience to an unsuspecting public.

Both teams will be lead by two candidates who have been flagged up by Lord Sugar as being possible time wasters in the form of Stuart ‘the brand’ Baggs and the very uncontroversial Sandeesh Samra.

I have a distinct feeling that whichever team loses, unless a member of that team makes an almighty blunder, it will be the manager in charge that will get the boot.

Epstein needs to clean up his act if he wants to be succesful

Occasionally and with great subtlety Lord Sugar will display his conditional liking for a candidate. This happens so infrequently that if you blinked you would miss this rare showing of humility from the great man.

Alex Epstein was a man not unlike me who I believe Lord Sugar had a fundamental liking for. However, unlike myself, what Mr Epstein did not realise quickly enough was that he could have used this brief rapport to his advantage.

Alex was a nice guy. Nice guys rarely do very well in this process especially if this is coupled by the nice guy being somewhat incompetent.

Apprentice is now down to the business end.

Week six has now come upon us and we have reached the half way stage of the competition.

Paloma aside, the people who have been fired up and till now have deserved to be get the boot.

Paloma was an example of a candidate who was incredibly able but perhaps too much hard work for Lord Sugar as she showed herself as a potential spanner in the works.

This week is all about advertising and the importance of brand when developing a product.

Boardroom Behaviour Boasts Best Chance of Survival !

Wow what an episode. The Apprentice works so fabulously because there are two components to it. If the task does not supply enough inflammatory moments or turbulent tantrums then you can always rely on the boardroom for unadulterated entertainment.

This week was testament to this fact. The actual task I thought was a little repetitious from previous sales tasks on the show and it reminded me of the wedding task I participated in where I could not sell a cake for love nor money.

Apprentice - episode five is looming.

The Apprentice just gets better and better this season and this week sees the candidates enter the fashion world when they are asked to market and sell some trendy garments at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

All the candidates will be dressing to impress the Lord (Hope you liked what I did there!) but I cant wait to see which candidate will be unfashionably poor this week. (My puns never cease to amaze me)

Also looking forward to seeing what clothes luscious Liz Locke tries on for size that lady is a sexy mamma!!!!!

Waissel escapes being voted off by design or by accident?

The X FACTOR unlike the Apprentice seems to revel in making incorrect decisions when it comes to choosing who will be departing the show. This naturally leads to controversy that in turn leads to fierce debate, which concludes finally in viewing figures soaring.

This point is of great interest to me. The Apprentice does offer a certain kind of rough justice when it comes to the boardroom. However I always find that if you pay close attention throughout the task and examine the behaviour of the losing team in the boardroom, the correct decision is made perhaps nine times out of ten.

Apprentice show has second Jew given the boot!!

After what I thought was a particularly flat episode I have to say the boardroom shenanigans more than made me a happy bunny! Melissa Cohen may have had a short stint on the show but boy will she be remembered in the Apprentice history books as one of the more vile and obnoxious candidates to have ever graced the boardroom.

I really wanted her to get further so she could inflict more pain and suffering (figuratively speaking) on the remaining competitors and make me laugh hysterically at her endless cringe worthy antics.

Apprentice episode 4 is about to start !!!!!!

I canny wait for this week’s episode of the Apprentice to start in precisely eight minutes! This week’s hopefuls are given the always interesting task of selling to trade and this is certainly an upgrade in terms of difficulty and it will be interesting to see which candidates sink and which front crawl to victory.

Can't wait to see the ever annoying Melissa Cohen back on our tv screens as she as definitely taken over the mantle of most annoying jew ever to appear on reality television from urs truly.

Advice from ex-Apprentice Michael Sophocles

I really hope my fellow Jews give a better account of themselves than I did, especially Melissa Cohen, who seems to have taken over from me as the resident kosher expert.

It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that Sugar is a man who prides himself on looking at things objectively and no matter where you’re from or what your religion is. There’s certainly no favouritism from the Lord. Being a “nice Jewish boy” can’t help them now.

I have always found it difficult to embrace an independent lifestyle. Throughout my school years I thoroughly enjoyed being under pressure to produce results. I always needed an aged disciplinarian standing over me, his putrid coffee-breath emanating from above, to give me the impetus to do my best. During my years in Edinburgh I had a troubled time. It was well-documented in various newspapers during my stint on the Apprentice that I had a rather colourful career as an undergrad.

The X Factor - An exploitation of the naïve?

Having come from a reality television background, I am fully aware of being exposed to a nation thirsty for blood.

Of course, as candidates on The Apprentice we knew what we were getting ourselves into, but being cautious is not a quality one exhibts when facing a 'life changing’ opportunity.

The X Factor of course is a very different animal to a business show. Despite both shows being labeled under the genre of 'reality television', the nature of X Factor makes me feel altogether frustrated and even a little uneasy.
