Wii games are the new thing at Jewish Care’s connect@ centre

It's Tuesday morning at Jewish Care's connect@southgate day service where people in their 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s are trying out games such as virtual tennis on a Nintendo Wii console. The scheme is held in the Schindler Hall at Southgate Progressive Synagogue; similar schemes are held on other days at synagogues in Kenton, Hendon and St John's Wood.

Topol meets Brenner Centre members

A group of members and volunteers from Jewish Care's Brenner Community Centre met Israeli performer Topol after his performance in the musical Gigi at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. The meeting was the idea of Frank Crocker, programme manager of the centre in Stamford Hill.

Soccercamp brings fresh skills to youngsters at Jewish Care’s Redbridge Community Centre

A coach who works for Chelsea football club has been running a Strikers' Week Soccercamp at Jewish Care's Redbridge Jewish Community Centre, at Sinclair House in Woodford Bridge Road. Dan Seymour, of the Barkingside-based Kickstart Soccer Services, has been putting youngsters through their paces.

Summer fete at Jewish Care’s Lady Sarah Cohen House raises £4000

Four thousand pounds was raised at a summer fete at Jewish Care's Lady Sarah Cohen House on Sunday afternoon (17 August). The event was organised by the ‘Friends' committee, staff and volunteers, attracting more than 500 people to the nursing home in Colney Hatch Lane, Friern Barnet.
