I was brought up at the New West End in London; when I married Gwen we joined South London Liberal shul, and then, at the behest of my great-aunt Lily to blow the shofar, we moved to West Central in Whitfield Street, where I eventually became President, and was also an Honorary Officer of Leo Baeck College. When I was appointed a Lecturer at Oxford University, we moved there and joined the Oxford Jewish Congregation, the only truly pluralistic shul in Britain where Orthodox, Liberal, and Masorti all worship in our various minhagim (I've gone back to the Orthodox after first helping the Liberals and then being one of the starters of the Masorti) and then join together for kiddush -- whoever finishes first waits for the other.
