Seven up for Salford

Salford recorded a stunning seven wicket win over Trinity as their bowlers ran riot in Stockport.

Jonny Wineberg led the way with 4-16 as Salford dismissed last season’s cup finalists for just 49 runs in 22 overs.

Daniel Paul’s 3-8 and 3-15 from captain Robert Marks left Trinity in disarray as Salford made light work of Trinity’s batting line-up.

Manchester Vets retain title

Manchester Maccabi claimed the MJSL Veterans Challenge Trophy after blowing away the opposition in rampant fashion.

In a three-team tournament, which also included Leeds Maccabi and Sedgley Park Celtic, Manchester won both its group games before easing to victory in the final.

After defeating both Leeds and Sedgley Park in the round robin, Manchester started the final as favourites.

Manchester slump to defeat

Manchester Cricket Club suffered their first defeat of the season after falling 38 runs short in their run chase against Offerton.

Having been set a target of 150 for victory, Manchester were bowled out for just 112 with only Shaya Rabinovitz offering any resistance.

Leeds can challenge for title, says Ullman

Alex Ullmann has urged his Leeds Maccabi 2nd side to target the MJSL league title following their stunning cup triumph.

Ullmann’s team became the first from Leeds to win the Tony Cohen Memorial Cup since the Judeans triumphed in 1987.

And after watching goals from Dan Davidson and Colin Abrahams condemn Crumpsall to a 2-0 defeat at Salford FC, Ullmann is demanding another step up.

Leeds Maccabi 1st produced a five star showing to land their first ever Sunday Alliance Premier Division title.

Ian Selwyn’s men trounced Real Porto 5-1 pip defending champions New Unicorn by a single point to spark wild celebrations.

David Woolman’s four-goal blast and Richard Black’s penalty ensured a convincing win as Maccabi ended the season in style.

Republic of Flixton seal MJSL treble

Republic of Flixton wrapped up the MJSL crown – but the new league champions won’t be around to defend their title next season after announcing a move into the world of non-Jewish football.

The club, which will compete alongside South Manchester Sports 1st in the Premier Division of the Manchester Accountants League, will instead enter a reserve side into the MJSL.

Manchester stun champions

Manchester Cricket Club’s young guns produced a stunning late show to defeat defending champions Wilmslow.

Chasing 177 for victory, 14-year-old Dan Glicher and 13-year-old James Feldman steered Manchester home with just six balls remaining.

The victory had looked unlikely after Steve Glicher’s men had slumped to 90-6 following a middle order collapse.
