The article in the JC about the level of decorum in Orthodox and Progressive synagogues really struck a chord with me. I have always found it rude when people chat and whisper through the service especially during the Torah service. It is also really distracting when I am trying to concentrate and focus on the prayers{ Kavanah} and there are social chats going on all around. Save the gossip for kiddush please. others are trying to pray.
