Heather Mills's pork-style sausage rolls used kosher label without consent

A vegetarian food company owned by Heather Mills has been using the Manchester Beth Din kosher hechsher without consent on its pork-style sausage rolls.

The misuse emerged when the pork-flavoured snacks made by Redwood were photographed on sale in a Holland and Barrett store in Manchester with the MK symbol on their packaging.

Five women arrested at Western Wall

Five women were arrested at the Western Wall on Thursday morning, just two days after a breakthrough meeting on how to resolve tensions at the site.

An estimated 200 women attended the monthly service held by women's rights group Women of the Wall and five were arrested for attempting to wear tallitot, including the group’s director Lesley Sachs.

Guilty — now go on holiday

A man who racially abused an elderly Jewish couple and a young Jewish man has had part of his punishment postponed so he can go on holiday.

Daniel Swain, 20, of Mowbray Road, Edgware, was found guilty of two charges of racially aggravated intentional harassment of Jewish victims.

Home of last Jew in Auschwitz to be vegetarian cafe

The home of the last Jewish man to live in Auschwitz’s town is to be turned into vegetarian café.

Szymon Kluger lived in the town of Ozwiecim in Poland as a child and, after the Holocaust, returned to his childhood home, which is directly behind the town’s former synagogue, until his death in 2000.

Billion-dollar Cubist art gift by Estee Lauder boss

One billion dollars (£650m) of Cubist art has been donated to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York by Leonard Lauder, the chairman of Estee Lauder.

The cosmetics tycoon and philanthropist has given the museum his collection of 78 paintings, drawings and sculptures by Cubist artists.

Bodies of telecoms boss and wife recovered near New Zealand

The bodies of a telecoms executive and his wife who were killed in a plane crash have been recovered near Auckland.

American Eric Hertz, 58, and his wife Kathy, 64, were pulled from the wreckage of Mr Hertz’s small plane 56 metres under the sea off the coast of New Zealand over the weekend.

Israel hit by second round of Gaza rockets

More rockets were fired from Gaza into southern Israel this morning after Israel launched an air strike on Gaza on Tuesday in response to a Hamas mortar attack.

Sirens sounded in Sderot at 7.33am this morning and two rockets exploded. They hit open ground and no one was hurt, Ynet reported.

An Arab League plan to create a $1bn fund to preserve the Arab character of East Jerusalem has been called a “badge of shame” by an Israeli government spokesperson.

At a meeting of the Arab League in Doha on Tuesday the emir of Qatar, Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani, called for the establishment of the fund in his opening speech. He said that Qatar would donate $250m.
