‘Neo-Nazis’ on trial in Germany

Twenty-six alleged neo-Nazis are standing trial in Koblenz state in Germany. They are accused of attacks on left-wing activists, dating as far back as 2009.

Alleged offences include setting fire to cars, scrawling neo-Nazi graffiti on walls and putting stickers saying “Rudolph Hess Street” over road signs, the Associated Press reported.

Holocaust survivor granny hunts bag snatcher

A 77-year-old Holocaust survivor is on a mission to track down the man who stole her handbag.

Bertha Presz of Queens, New York, who grew up in Belgium and fled the Nazis as a child, had her bag stolen. The crime occurred while she was in the egg aisle at Brach's Glatt Kosher Meat Market in Kew Garden Hills.

Charges filed against rabbi for carrying out circumcisions

A German rabbi has become the first person to have criminal charges filed against him for carrying out circumcisions. Rabbi David Goldberg, an Israeli mohel currently living in Bavaria, has been charged with causing bodily harm following a May ruling at the district court in Cologne which banned religious circumcision.

Murder mastermind New York rabbi is faking his mental illness, court hears

A New York rabbi accused of hiring contract killers to kill two men is faking his mental illness to avoid trial, a court heard on Friday.

Rabbi Victor Koltun of New York faces charges for murder and conspiracy for allegedly ordering the deaths of Gerald Piscopo, 28, and his uncle, ex-policeman Francis Piscopo, 49, on November 4 2010.

Sculpture looted by Nazis returned to rightful owners

A 500-year-old sculpture stolen from a Jewish family by the Nazis was today returned to the heirs of its rightful owners in Germany.

The wooden sculpture of St Peter, depicted wearing a golden cloak, was intended for Adolf Hitler’s "Fuhrermuseum". It is estimated to be one of 560 pieces of art work stolen from Jewish collections for the museum, reported Bloomberg.
