Cambridgeshire police are making inquiries after BNP leader Nick Griffin tweeted the home address of a gay couple who won a court case against discriminatory bed and breakfast owners.

Couple Michael Black and John Morgan from Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, won a landmark court ruling on Thursday after being turned away from a B&B in March 2010.

Letter from Morsi to Peres prompts disbelief

A warm, respectful letter from Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi to Israeli President Shimon Peres has caused anger and disbelief in Egypt.

The diplomatic missive was delivered on Wednesday by Egypt’s new ambassador to Israel Atef Salem, but was dated July 19. Although it mostly followed diplomatic protocol in its use of language, some of the phrasing is particularly cordial.

Moriah Jewish Day School intruder seen off by staff

An intruder was chased off the grounds of Moriah Jewish Day School in Pinner on Tuesday.

In an email to parents, head-teacher Alan Shaw wrote: “An intruder entered the far end of the school playing field from the housing estate on our western boundary. He was spotted immediately due to our strong security procedures [CCTV, security guard, vigilant staff] and chased off the premises.”

World's largest Jewish centre opens in Ukraine

The world’s largest Jewish centre — with more floor space than Windsor Castle — opened this week in the unlikely location of Dnepropetrovsk in south-east Ukraine.

The chief rabbis of Ukraine, Russia and 400 other guests were present as the Sephardi Chief Rabbi of Israel, Shlomo Amar, placed the mezuzah on the door of the 540,000 sq ft Menorah Centre.

Israeli rabbi steals torahs from his own synagogue

An Israeli rabbi was convicted of stealing torah scrolls from his own congregation and replacing scrolls with rolls of paper.

UK Ambassador to Chile apologises for Falklands tweet

Britain’s Ambassador to Chile Jon Benjamin has apologised for a tweet which suggested Argentinians lost the Falklands War because they are “cowards”.

His post, written in Spanish, referenced a lewd football chant sung by Chilean fans when their team plays Argentina. The chant translates as: “Argentines, gays, they took the Falklands off you because you are cowards.”

Anti-technology rabbi says he had 'permission' to use iPhone

Israeli anti-technology rabbi Amnon Yitzhak has defended himself after he was photographed using an iPhone, saying that he had special “heter”, or permission to do so.

Photos of the rabbi, which were circulating on Facebook and messaging system WhatsApp, show him in his car during “chol hamoed” days of Succot, wearing a striped robe and using what appears to be a black iPhone.
