Yasir Arafat’s remains exhumed in Ramallah

The remains of former president of the Palestinian Authority, Yasir Arafat, have been exhumed in Ramallah as part of an ongoing investigation into how he died.

Samples were removed from the body by a Palestinian doctor on Tuesday, with the team of Swiss, French and Russian scientists who will examine the samples were standing by to supervise.

Britain may support Palestinian UN bid

British officials may now support the Palestinian United Nations bid in return for promises from President Mahmoud Abbas not to pursue Israel for war crimes and to resume the peace process.

Whitehall officials have said that Britain will vote “yes” on an upgrade for the Palestinian Authority to non-member observer status on three conditions, when the vote is held on Thursday.

Artists tour with Anne Frank Trust

Clila and Hadasa Bau, daughters of concentration camp artist Joseph Bau, had a positive message as they toured schools with the Anne Frank Trust.

Clila Bau said at Morpeth School, Bethnal Green, that pupils should understand “that our parents, even though they suffered, even though they met in a concentration camp, always found a way to be happy”.

Gay ex-principal sues Australian Jewish school for millions

One of Australia’s largest Jewish schools is being sued for millions of dollars by its former principal.

Joseph Gerassi was principal of Melbourne’s Bialik College and was believed to be the first openly gay principal of a Jewish school in Australia. He is suing his former employer for unfair dismissal, the Australian newspaper The Age has reported.

The research, done in conjunction with the Open University, hypothesised that women are judged by what they look like. That means that women who are judged to be attractive should theoretically also be perceived as having socially desirable personality traits.
